"GHB - The date rape drug threatening our nation!" read a headline on January 23, 1999. This article was in retaliation for the death and rape of Samantha Reid (a dumb ass dead martyr). Samantha was the poster child for outlawing GHB due to its possibilities for date rape. This is an odd coincidence given that she was never raped, and she actually died from a heart condition she had from birth mixed with a combination of alcohol and GHB (a combination which is to blame for most GHB-related rapes).

The nation plunged into a hysteria about GHB being used to rape 1000's of women and a panic ensued. According to the statistics of law enforcement offices throughout our nation GHB is involved in about 1 out of 50 sexual assaults involving drugs. Of this 1 in 50 drug related cases 93% involved marijuana, 92% involved alcohol, and over 40% of the cases involved cocaine. This means that less than 1 out of every 100 cases involved GHB alone - less than 1 out of every 5000 cases involving drugs).

Although this statement will certainly make us unpopular, the creators of GHBkills.org place a good portion of the blame for the GHB-related rapes on the victims of the rapes themselves. Everyone (male and female) should be cautious especially around strangers. In a bar you should never leave a drink unattended, and do not hesitate to discard a drink if it tastes funny. Never allow a stranger to buy you a drink unless you see it mixed yourself. Of course this isn't even stating the obvious - never take drugs (alcohol included) from a stranger!
